Showers and Thunderstorms will be possible across the region today and Wednesday.
• Some of these thunderstorms could be severe, with damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and hail as the main threat.
• Current timing: First round is expected to be late this afternoon into the late evening hours, with the best chances across the Southern Tier, Catskills and NEPA. The second round currently looks to start late Wednesday afternoon into the overnight hours with storms diving into the area from the north and pushing south through NEPA.
• Heavy rain could lead to instances of flash flooding, especially Wednesday evening and night.

Southwestern Luzerne County in northeastern Pennsylvania...

* Until 230 PM EDT.

* At 136 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Shumans, or
near Berwick, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Hazleton, Berwick, Nanticoke, West Hazleton, Freeland, Dorrance,

PennDOT Road Maintenance Notice – South Main Road (SR 2045)
PennDOT will be performing chip seal and fog seal maintenance on South Main Road (SR 2045) in Wright Township on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic restrictions, reduced speeds, and possible delays during the work. Loose stone conditions may occur following the chip seal application until sweeping is completed. The fog seal application will follow to help secure the aggregate and preserve the roadway surface.

Please use caution when traveling through the work area and follow all posted traffic control instructions.
