Behind every thriving school district is the people who pour their hearts into it, year after year. Last night, the Board of Trustees was proud to celebrate our staff members' years of service and retirements with the warmth and gratitude they so deserve.

Please join us in recognizing these dedicated individuals (see the full list here: http://mvw.sd/MwjVx) for their lasting impact on our students and families.

What does a year of hard work, dedication, growth and community look like in numbers? It looks like this!

The success of a school district takes teachers who go above and beyond, families who stay engaged, staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes and a community that believes in the power of public education.

The milestones and recognitions you'll see in this video are a direct reflection of the collective effort that defines who we are as a district. We're honored to share these wins with you!

As we observe Memorial Day, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the meaning of this important national holiday. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We are grateful for their service.

MVWSD's Early Literacy Program was honored with a Glenn W. Hoffmann Award by the Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA), supported by the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE).

Our Early Literacy Program provides targeted reading intervention, professional development, and family literacy events, all aimed at ensuring every student is reading by third grade. Our dedicated team of 11 site instructional coaches and 6 reading interventionists work across our schools, collaborating with teachers and specialists to provide students with the focused support they need.

SCCOE put together a wonderful video highlighting the program—please check it out! You may recognize some familiar faces.

A big thank you to SCCSBA for this meaningful honor and to SCCOE for capturing the experience of our program so beautifully!

MVWSD recently locked in savings of over $3.1 million for local taxpayers by refinancing bonds originally approved by voters in 2012 through Measure G.

The District replaced prior bonds with an average interest rate of 3.38% with new bonds at an all-inclusive interest rate of 2.82%, without extending the term of the bonds. The refinancing savings are a win for taxpayers because they result in lower property taxes. Once the District identified an opportunity to refinance in a way that benefitted the community, the Board and staff moved quickly to pursue it.

The District received the highest ‘Aaa’ rating from Moody’s Investor Service as part of the refinancing process. The incredible rating was the result of the District’s strong local economy, community-funded status, and track record of financial conservatism and outperformance.
