Friends of Immigrant House

Friends of Immigrant House Immigrant House is a monument to the courage and contributions of our region's immigrants, past and present. Rengstroff.

Built in the 1880's and saved from demolition by the City of Mountain View on 02/22/13. The Friends of Immigrant House with the support of Mountain View's City Council, Mountain View Kiwanis, City of Mountain View Firefighters, Google and the Old Mountain View Neighborhood Association saved Immigrant House. From the 1880s through the 1950s, 1,000s of small cabins dotted the Santa Clara Valley, ho

using immigrants who worked its rich farm lands. They housed farms' seasonal workers and their families and more permanent hired hands and their families. Immigrant House was Mountain View's last such cabin. It was located on Bryant Street near Villa Street from the late 1880s until it was moved on February 22, 2013 to the City of Mountain View's MOC. On August 8th,2016 it was moved and set on its new foundation at 771 N. Immigrant House is now being refurbished at a new home in Heritage Park.

๐ŸŒŸ Exciting News! ๐ŸŒŸ

Had a wonderful breakfast meeting with Yaritza Rodriguez, a dedicated board member of Friends of Our House, at Bluestone Coffee in Los Altos. We discussed the upcoming *Historical Walking Tour* of Heritage Park and Immigrant House, and Iโ€™m thrilled to share that Yaritza has already created an amazing draft for the project! ๐ŸŽ‰

Weโ€™re also planning to bring this experience to life online with a virtual tour of the park and the house, thanks to the Immigrant House funds. Itโ€™s such a joy to have a partner like Yaritza to make this vision a reality. Iโ€™m so grateful and excited for whatโ€™s to come! ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿก๐ŸŒณ

Stay tuned for more updates on this project!

We had a fantastic turnout at the Mountain View Kiwanis Grant Awards Luncheon held on Valentine's Day! โค๏ธ at Ristorante Don Giovanni. It was a day filled with joy and inspiration as we celebrated the "sweethearts of our community" โ€“ the 33 organizations awarded grants this year. Adding a playful twist to the event, we played bingo with the names of the organizations as the squares. With the names mixed up, the anticipation of who would be called next added to the excitement. Each awarded organization took the stage to share their mission and how they plan to utilize the grants, inspiring everyone in attendance with their dedication and vision. It was a truly unforgettable day, embodying the spirit of community and generosity.

The festivals right around the corner! This is the first print ad that is running in the Los Altos Town Crier, for the next few weeks.
Did you know Mountain View had 10 laundry mats? I went to each one of them yesterday and put up a poster where I could. It's all part of getting ready and I'm having fun with it.
