The Mountain Fire Department was recognized in 1953 by the Mountain Town Board, consisting of Chairman Tom Fitzpatrick and Supervisors William Lazansky and Bernard Bowman. We serve the community of Mountain in conjunction with training and assisting our

Burning Permit Restrictions
Burning is allowed today with a DNR annual burning permit from 6 pm to midnight for a covered barrel, debris pile less than 6x6x6 feet in size, and grass or wooded area less than 1 acre. Any burning outside of these restrictions requires a special burning permit issued by the local DNR Ranger Station.

Crews have been out cleaning culverts and monitoring the water. It has already been an interesting year. Don’t forget to get your burn permits and check the fire danger level before you burn. We will do our best to update changes. Thank you all for keeping our forest and Community safe.

It has been 7 years since Nicholas Hietpas went missing. This investigation is still ongoing, and we are still looking for assistance in finding Nicholas.

Nicholas is a white male from Appleton, WI. Nicholas was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with green lettering, blue jeans, and brown work boots. Nicholas' vehicle was located in the area of Hwy 64 and Shadow Lake Road, in the Town of Doty, Oconto County, Wisconsin. Nicholas may be accompanied by a white German Shepherd named Samantha. Nicholas was 22 years old at the time of his disappearance in 2019.

The town road crew has been working at getting roads opened. They have utilized the Snowmobile Club to aid with tractors. Don’t forget to watch your furnace exhaust. Members are available to help those that can’t on their own. This is when community comes first.
