Theodore Roosevelt once said “It is not the critic who counts.” What he meant was simple.
History is not changed by the people sitting on the sidelines complaining. It is changed by the people willing to step into the arena, take the hits, fight the battle, and keep going anyway. That is what this picture represents. This is more than a group of young people standing together. This is the beginning of a movement. The first Union County Young Republicans are here, and we are not here to play small. We are here because Union County deserves better than the same tired machine politics that have controlled our towns for far too long. We are young, motivated, intelligent, and ready. The democrats have the machine but we have the future. The democrats have the insiders while we have the people. The democrats have corruption, backroom deals, nepotism, and decades of failure. We have energy, courage, new ideas, and a generation that refuses to sit back and watch our county get sold out. This is not just a club. This is the start of something bigger. We are building a team of fighters. People who care about their towns. People who are tired of corruption. People who believe public service should actually mean serving the public and we are looking for more recruits. If you are between 18 and 40, live in Union County, and are tired of the same political machine running everything into the ground, then this is your moment. Do not wait for someone else to fix it. Step into the arena.

"I will say I use that word intentionally, and the reason that I do it is because, so, I grew up in the Presbyterian Church, and after Trump got elected, I stopped going to church for the first time in my life, because I was like, 'I cannot sit in this room of people,'" Bennett said. "At the time, I was stationed somewhere that was pretty conservative. I was still in the military at the time. I was like, 'I cannot sit in this church full of people who voted for Trump.' And then, ultimately, I decided they do not get to decide what Christianity looks like, and to me, it's the same thing about [how] they do not get to decide what patriotism is. You do not get to wrap yourself in the flag while you are literally murdering Americans in broad daylight."

The Democratic nominee to represent New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District in the House of Representatives, Rebecca Bennett, said she "stopped going to church" because she could not sit in a room "full of people who voted for Trump," audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows.
