Do you harbor a hatred of the dreaded kudzu and other harmful vines? Then join us for our next volunteer clean-up!

We'll be removing vines and helping out our local trees in Azalea Park in the area near the gazebos and pond. We'll provide gloves, trash bags, shears, and water bottles. You just need to bring your helping hands (and wear clothes you can get dirty in along with closed toe shoes).

Gnome Your Parks Update - Parker the Gnome has moved!!!😲

Doty Park was getting a little too busy with summer camps going on. He heard that there was going to be a reggae concert out at Brown Family Park next Friday (June 19th), so he decided to head over there next to get a good spot for the show. Check out the pics to get an idea of where he's at.

Didn't find him at Doty Park or just now hearing about the Gnome Your Parks scavenger hunt and want to join? Don't worry, Parker leaves signs behind wherever he goes. If you take a picture of the sign where he was at and turn that in along with a picture of his current location, you can still participate and get credit for previous locations. You can also keep track of Parker's whereabouts and how the program works on our website here: https://summervilleparks.com/718/Gnome-Your-Parks

We've got exciting news for local skateboarders: we're planning a new skatepark!

We'll be creating a new skatepark in the location of the current skatepark with brand new features and amenities. Because of this, we're seeking public input on what y'all want to see at this location.

Join us on Tuesday, June 30th, and let us know what you want out there. Meeting is from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Doty Depot Building (320 N. Laurel St.). We'll see you there!

Tennis camp and pickleball camp in the same week??? It's more likely than you'd think with Summerville Parks and Rec πŸ˜‰

Summer camps have been going strong, and we're super excited for another amazing week of camps coming up soon. Here's a few action shots of our pickleball camps and tennis camps at Doty Park. It's easy to facilitate both when we've got both pickleball courts AND tennis courts at one place.

Which do you prefer: tennis or pickleball? Or do you have your camper signed up for another one of our sports camps this season? You can check out all our current camp listings that we still have available at summervilleparks.com!

Nature camp came to the rescue yesterday! 😲
On Friday morning, our staff discovered a baby mockingbird that had fallen out of its nest outside of the Rollins Edwards Community Center. At first, our team attempted to place the bird back in its nest, only for it to jump right out again the second they put it down.

Luckily our nature camp, led by naturalist Tara Bailey, came right along. Tara was able to confirm that the baby was actually a fledgling. This is the stage of a bird's life where it naturally leaves the nest to hop around and hide on ground before it can fly. Thanks to them, we were able to safely leave the bird in a hiding spot where its momma could easily watch over it.

Nature camp is always one of our most popular camps, teaching kids (and in this case, some of our staff) about our natural environment. We just finished our first week of camps yesterday, but there's still 9 more weeks of summer fun left.
If you're still looking for a camp, be sure to see what we have to offer at summervilleparks.com!
