Monthly Tot Time Picnics are BACK at the Rollins Edwards Community Center!🎉🎉🎉

Miss Laurel had a wonderful time yesterday getting to picnic and read stories with all of her friends. Toddlers got to hear stories from her like "The Day the Crayons Quit" and "Pete the Kitty's First Day of Preschool."

It's time for us to once again highlight how we're LIVING WELL with Summerville Parks and Rec!

Today, we're showing off how people stay physically active at our parks and facilities. Whether it's through enjoying a walk or run on a trail, or signing up for a sports program, there are many ways we provide a space for you to stay physically fit throughout the year. Introducing the newest member to our team: Arkeliah Ollison! 🎉

Arkeliah is a Certified Therapist Recreation Specialist with a passion for creating meaningful, inclusive, and accessible recreation opportunities for individuals with all abilities. She graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy and shortly after obtained her certification. She has been in Summerville for 5 years working in the behavioral health setting, while also working one-on-one with an individual with disabilities.
She is looking forward to listening to the community, developing innovative adaptive recreation opportunities, and making sure everyone has a place to belong, play, and thrive in Summerville.

To help with that, we've created a Therapeutic Recreation Survey so YOU can let us know what kind of adaptive programs you'd like to see in the future. We'll also have a Meet and Greet event on Sept. 11th at the Rollins Edwards Community Center where you can meet Arkeliah from 6pm to 7:30pm.

🚩PARKS UPDATE🚩

Due to rainy conditions all week, we've had to reschedule the maintenance at Saul Alexander Park playground. The scheduled maintenance is now scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2nd to Thursday, Sept. 3rd.

The playground and restroom will be closed during this time, but the softball field and pickleball courts will remain open. All facilities should be open by Friday, Sept. 4th. We appreciate your patience during this time!
