It shows their transformation from seeking adventure on a motorcycle to becoming deeply moved by the poverty and social inequality they witness.

This year’s Sno-Isle Reads Together title is ... "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt!🎉

Join this annual community reading program designed to spark meaningful conversations and connection through the power of storytelling.

Born and raised in Washington, Van Pelt’s luminous debut novel follows widow Tova Sullivan, who forms an unlikely friendship with a giant Pacific octopus reluctantly residing at the Sowell Bay Aquarium. Set in the Pacific Northwest, the novel explores grief, connection, and community as Tova searches for answers surrounding her son’s disappearance 30 years earlier.
