Child Passenger Safety Week is This Week!

Kids grow fast—and their car seat needs to grow with them. During Child Passenger Safety Week, take a few minutes to check your child’s car seat and make sure it still fits properly based on their age, height, weight, and developmental stage.

✅ Check the harness fit
✅ Make sure the seat is installed correctly
✅ Recheck the fit as your child grows
✅ Keep children in the appropriate car seat or booster seat for their size

A proper fit can make a critical difference in a crash. Don’t assume last year’s setup is still the right one—they grow, you check!

September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

We pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and to honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

Among those lost were 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. In the years since, many more first responders have lost their lives or continue to face serious illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

For those of us in the fire service, September 11 carries a profound meaning. It is a reminder of courage, sacrifice, service, and the commitment to be there for our communities when they need us most.

On this 25th anniversary, the Mukilteo Fire Department remembers the fallen, honors the survivors, and stands with the families, first responders, and communities forever changed by that day.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

A quick notification of a fire at an apartment complex, followed by a rapid fire‑suppression knockdown, kept today’s incident from becoming much larger.
We are grateful to report no injuries to firefighters, civilians, or pets.
A big thank you from Mukilteo Fire to Mukilteo Police, Paine Field Fire, Everett Fire, South Snohomish County Fire, and the American Red Cross for the big lift and outstanding teamwork.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating some of the four-legged members of the Fire family! 🚒🐶

Firefighting can be a demanding and stressful profession, and sometimes the best therapy comes with four paws, a wagging tail, and an enthusiastic welcome home. Dogs provide companionship, comfort, stress relief, and a much-needed reason to slow down and enjoy the moment after a long day or difficult shift.

In honor of **National Dog Day**, we’re sharing a few of the pups who help our firefighters recharge when they’re off duty. Say hello to Greta, Dakota, Ace, and Amani!

Congratulations Firefighter Paramedic Herbert on completing probation and your first full year of your fire service career. Some don’t realize how much goes into completing a “year” of probation. We can all say getting to that finish line is much longer than a year. FF/PM Herbert applied for the job in June 2025. He had to travel to Mukilteo from Detroit to interview and pass CPAT. Once that happened he was given a job offer contingent on passing a background check and medical exam. He relocated his family to Washington State and made a few more trips to Mukilteo for uniform and bunker gear sizing. August 18th was his first day on the job. He came to us with paramedic experience, but everything about the fire service was new. The more he learned the more he found he really liked the fire side of the job. Off to the Snohomish County Fire Academy he went. Sets and reps became the norm. Pulling hose, throwing ladders and all things fire kept him returning each day. He graduated in December and started pulling shifts with his crew “B shift”. He soon learned the ropes and Dr. Campbell gave his blessing for PM Herbert to fly solo as a medic. March brought the FF stairclimb with fund raising and team building. In May he attended the driver/pump operator academy and has been working to obtain his driver sign off since. His probationary book was turned in early. Congratulations FF/PM Herbert. Keep up the good work and enjoy watching a movie with your crew tonight. You earned it!
