With many July 4th events being canceled this year, consider having a neighborhood celebration. You can plan a fun event that will still permit 6' social distance, and safe activities to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

You can decorate your front yard for people to enjoy on their daily walks.

You can decorate your bike, skateboard, roller skates, wagons, etc. and have a little block parade keeping 6' apart from others in the block parade. Start collecting items around the house during the month of June to help decorate for your neighborhood event.

Establish a time among your neighbors for everyone to grill out at their own home if you want so someone is having a meal during your block parade, missing out on the fun! Weather permitting, you could even put lights up on your house or front lawn to enjoy during the evening in lieu of a firework display -- consider having a neighborhood contest for the most creative home/yard!

Be creative in your ideas, and have fun!

While in the park we continue to recommend that park visitors bring hand sanitizer with them and remember it is important to maintain social distancing. Older adults, pregnant individuals and/or those with weakened immune systems and underlying health conditions that are at increased risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) are encouraged to take extra precautions. By minimizing non-essential contact, we can help slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community.
