The MIDY Stormwater Partnership has decided to postpone the planned Rain Drop Run until September 12th. We understand many are still dealing with the aftermath from the recent weather outbreaks. We have also been advised the clean-up along the trail and within Westside Park may take longer than the original event date. Our participants’ safety is of course the number one priority. This is meant to be a fun event and we think postponing it is the best chance for it to be so.

If you have already registered, an email was sent discussing this but please let Courtney Pruitt know if you did not receive the email at [email protected]. ♻️ IMPORTANT REMINDER: Blue recycling toters should continue to be used for recyclable materials only. Please do NOT place storm debris, construction materials, or other non-recyclable items in recycling toters.

As recovery efforts continue following last week's storm, the Muncie Sanitary District would like to remind residents of the cleanup resources currently available.

🗑️ Roll-off dumpsters are available at the following locations for areas identified on the Delaware County Emergency Management Damage Assessment Map:

• Vine Street between 15th and 17th Streets
• Pershing Drive between 15th and 16th Streets
• Franklin Street between 20th and 21st Streets
• Manville Road between 14th and 15th Streets
• The corner of Wisteria Lane and Azalea Lane

🚛 Additional large-item pickups are also underway, with crews focusing specifically on the Southside and Thomas-Avondale neighborhoods.

Large items will be collected if they are:

• Placed within 5 feet of the curb or edge of the pavement
• Within reach of the grapple truck

To assist residents with storm cleanup, MSD is temporarily waiving its typical prohibition on construction debris.

Construction debris, including plywood, lumber, carpet, flooring, and similar materials, will be collected if it is:

• Placed within 5 feet of the curb or edge of the pavement
• Within reach of the grapple truck
• Separated from other debris for FEMA reporting purposes

The Muncie Sanitary District is extending additional residential drop-off services at East Central Recycling (ECR) for customers impacted by last week's flooding.

MSD customers will be authorized to dispose of an additional 2,000 pounds of flood-related debris at the residential drop-off facility, bringing the total available disposal amount to 4,000 pounds for those affected by the recent flooding.

When dropping off materials, customers must indicate that the debris is related to last week's flooding so it can be properly tracked.

MSD also continues to provide electronic waste and household hazardous waste disposal services at ECR.

MSD will begin an additional large-item pickup starting today, 8/17. Following today's pickup, additional collections will occur specifically in the Southside and Thomas-Avondale neighborhoods.

Additionally, the district will waive its typical prohibition on construction debris, provided the debris is located within reach of our grapple truck and placed within 5 feet of the curb or edge of the pavement.

Construction debris will be collected separately for FEMA reporting purposes. Construction debris such as plywood, lumber, carpet, flooring, etc. MUST be separated for MSD pickup.

Accounting for damage to residential and commercial structures following an event helps communities in recovery.

‼️ MSD Trash Service Update – 8/12/2026

MSD will be suspending trash service today, August 12, due to inclement weather and for the safety of our drivers.

MSD will pick up missed routes tomorrow, once weather conditions have cleared.

Sand Available for Sandbags

Sand is available for residents who need to fill sandbags at 5200 W Kilgore, next to MSD Engineering.

Sandbags and shovels will be available on-site. Residents will need to load and fill the bags themselves.
