Munford Fire Department proudly recognizes Brent Ruffin as our 2026 Firefighter of the Year.

Since joining the fire service in 2019, Brent has shown tremendous dedication to both his training and this profession. While continuing his fire training, he earned his Advanced EMT license and went on to complete paramedic school, all while balancing the demands of work and family.

Brent’s growth, work ethic, and commitment to serving our community have made a lasting impact on this department. We are proud to have him as a member of B Shift and as part of the Munford Fire family.

Munford Fire Department’s Fire Camp is here, and we’re excited to welcome kids ages 8–12 for 3 fun-filled days of learning and hands-on activities. Dates are July 13th-15th.

Campers will get a behind the scenes look at the fire service through fire trucks, equipment, rescue skills, fire safety, and plenty of fun along the way.

Today, Munford Fire personnel participated in HazMat Technology Awareness training. The course will continue over the next two days to ensure all shifts receive the training.

We were also glad to train alongside our partners from Atoka Fire Department, Brighton Fire Department, and Tipton County Fire Department. Training together helps strengthen our regional response capabilities and better prepares us to serve our communities.

The Munford Police Department is competing in the 2026 Tennessee's Best Looking Cruiser contest. We'd appreciate it if you'd take a minute to vote for them.

After all, if their cruiser wins, maybe they'll stop parking in our fire lanes.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office has opened public voting for the 2026 Tennessee’s Best-Looking Cruiser Award as part of the 22nd Annual Law Enforcement Challenge. The Munford Police Department has entered this year's contest, and we encourage residents to participate by voting for our submitted cruiser. Please support the department by casting your vote online before Friday June 19.

It’s National Police Week, so we guess it’s time to say something nice about Munford Police Department.

In all seriousness, we give these guys a hard time constantly, but they show up every day and deal with things most people could never imagine. From wrecks and domestics to bad days, long nights, and everything in between, they’re there before most people even know something happened.

Now… would we ever admit they have a harder job than us? Absolutely not. They sit in air conditioning, drink enough caffeine to stop a horse, and somehow still need backup for a loose chihuahua.

But when things get ugly, dangerous, or chaotic, there’s nobody we’d rather stand beside.

We appreciate everything y’all do for this city and for us. Even if you do write entirely too many traffic tickets.

Regarding the controlled burn at 13109 Highway 51:

Yesterday at approximately 10:20 a.m., the controlled burn at this location ignited several tires that were buried within a wood pile. Fire crews from Munford and Atoka responded promptly and extinguished that portion of the fire. The remaining wood pile continues to burn as part of the cleanup efforts at the property. The burn is being conducted under specific parameters. After the fire extended beyond its intended area yesterday, we have been working closely with the property owner to ensure the remaining vegetation is burned down as safely and efficiently as possible.
