The post concerning the subject trying to pick the girl up has been resolved. After some investigation by family members and talking to them it appears it was a family member that the girl did not know and the person does not pose any kind of threat to the community. But considering what the possible severity and threat could be, it is always best to be safe and put the information out there. I would rather be wrong in that regard than to not post and something bad happen.

There was a burglary on McElderry Road last week in which a Silver Ford Ta**us was spotted at the scene with two black males driving it. A citizen called the Munford Police the other day and said they saw a silver Ford Ta**us on Jenifer road with a Georgia Tag # PST7697 with two black males driving it. The tag # came back to a 2003 Silver Ta**us. Any contact with this vehicle please call the police at 256-362-6117 or 256-493-5990.

Just a observation concerning the traffic light. This morning school was delayed so I was directing traffic at the light. I would encourage everyone when an officer is not at the intersection directing traffic: Please don't treat the light as though it was a four way intersection. Obey the traffic laws as it relates to what the light is doing. When you treat it like a four way stop, that doesn't mean everybody is on the same page and it will only cause a wreck. When the traffic is not backed up, I will let the traffic flow as it normally would. Again the answer to this is to let the traffic light work all the time. If I or the County would have been tied up on a call this morning there wouldn't have been anybody there to direct traffic.

I want to welcome everyone to the Munford Police Departments debut in social media. The use of social media will allow us the opportunity to interact with the most useful resource we have as a Police Department in fighting crime-that is you-the community that we serve. We will be constantly updating you the community on crimes and bolos we might have throughout the week. Over the five years I've been Chief we have had many crimes that have been solved and caught by citizens who were observant and called us. But it's essential that we communicate with you so you will know what is going on and what to be on the look out for.
