The Hart County Sheriff's Office has received numerous reports of persons impersonating members of the Sheriff's Department and requesting bail money. The victims have reported that a male caller is identifying himself as a "sergeant" with the Sheriff's Office and a family member has been arrested for various offenses. The caller then will requests that money be sent to him through various accounts for bail money for the family member.

The Hart County Sheriff's Department will never call requesting bail money for someone who has been detained. Do not give anyone your personal information or send money to anyone representing themselves as employees of the Hart County Sheriff's Department.

The person(s) committing these scam calls provide personal information pertaining to the person supposedly arrested and the family member. Be very diligent with not providing any information and report these calls to the Sheriff's Office.
