🚧 HART COUNTY ROAD PAVING UPDATE 🚧

Hart County would like to remind motorists that Scotty’s Contracting will be conducting paving work on county roads. Crews will be using the full width of the roadway while paving operations are underway.

Please detour when possible and give the paving crews the space they need to safely complete the work. Motorists should use caution, slow down, and watch for workers, equipment, and changing road conditions.

Wednesday, August 26th – Thursday, August 27th
Logsdon Valley Road

📅 WEEK OF AUGUST 31ST – SEPTEMBER 4TH

Monday, August 31st: Flat Rock Road

Tuesday, September 1st – Wednesday, September 2nd: Cave Hill Road

Thursday, September 3rd: Hammonsville Schoolhouse Road

Please plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible. The entire width of these roads will be utilized during paving operations, so motorists should not attempt to drive through active paving areas.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as this important work is completed. Most importantly, please give our paving crews the space they need to work safely.

Thank you for helping keep our road crews safe!

🌡️ DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX TODAY & THIS WEEKEND 🌡️

⚠️ Hart County, please take the heat seriously today and through the coming weekend. Temperatures in the 90s combined with high humidity will make it feel significantly hotter, with dangerously high heat index values possible.

Extreme heat can affect anyone, but young children, older adults, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without access to air conditioning are especially vulnerable.

☀️ Stay Safe in the Heat:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activity, especially during the afternoon.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned location.
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
• Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a short time.
• Check on family, friends, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
• Keep pets indoors or provide plenty of shade and fresh water.
• Remember that vehicles, pavement, and outdoor surfaces can become extremely hot.

🌡️ If you must be outside: try to complete outdoor work and activities during the cooler parts of the morning or evening and take regular breaks.

🚨 Know the warning signs of heat-related illness. If someone becomes confused, faints, has severe weakness, or appears seriously affected by the heat, move them to a cooler location and seek medical help immediately.

Please help spread the word and check on those around you. A little preparation can make a big difference during dangerous heat.

💧 Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe, Hart County!
