The Rescue Company showcased our Paratech Fire & Rescue Equipment monopod yesterday during the touch a truck portion of Munhall Borough’s 125th anniversary celebration. One of many of our technical rescue capabilities — this is used for high angle, confined space, trench, and other rescue scenarios.

More extreme fire behavior for our crews… This time in the 300 BLK of E. 11th Avenue in Homestead. 171 & 203 Engine Companies were operating in the early stages of the fire when this hostile fire event occurred. Footage of this incident was simultaneously captured on firefighter worn GoPro cameras as well as bystander video nearby.

Yesterday afternoon — 203 Engine responded to the 300 BLK of E. 11th Avenue in Homestead for a reported house on fire. 203 Engine arrived as the 2nd due engine and worked alongside 171 Engine to open up and extinguish fire. The fire proved to be difficult due to balloon frame construction and hidden pockets of fire in void spaces throughout the 2nd and 3rd divisions and would go to a 3rd alarm before being brought under control. The fire is being investigated by the ACFM Office, but was likely started from a lightning strike.
