Park Elementary School

Park Elementary School Official page of Park Elementary School, part of the Steel Valley School District. All Park students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

Park Elementary is a high-performing neighborhood school serving over 340 kindergarten through fourth grade students from Munhall, West Homestead, and Homestead. Park students are respectful and kind, and they love coming to school! Students are fortunate to be supported by an extremely active and engaged PTO, and Park offers a number of well attended after school enrichment activities that suppor

t academic and physical development. Teachers and staff are committed to continuously improving, and three teacher-led teams drive the school’s improvement efforts. Park Elementary is the only school in Allegheny County that has been asked to support site visits for educational leaders working towards Advanced Credentials through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Experienced educational leaders will have a chance to take a look at our high-performing school as they work to take their schools to the next level. Park Elementary is a special place, and our school community has much to be proud of!

As we prepare to say goodbye to Park Elementary, we made sure to take some additional photos of various spaces throughout the building. Park is such a unique layout, with layers of history, and we wanted to capture the classrooms, decorated hallways, and academic spaces to potentially spark a trip down memory lane for our alumni.

These photos were taken during the Celebration in Education festivities, so some classrooms were empty while the students enjoyed the day. We hope that they still bring warm memories.

The Final Chapter at Park Elementary comes to a close today. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this a special place for generations of Steel Valley students.

As this chapter ends, a new story begins with Steel Valley Elementary. We could not be more excited to see the impact that a brand new, state-of-the art building is going to have on our students, staff, and families.

Enjoy the summer!

Our youngest learners have given us SO much to celebrate this year! Our kindergarten students showed the largest overall improvement in DIBELS growth across the school this year! Students at or above benchmark increased from 26% to 86%! Students well below benchmark dropped from 50% to 8%. This represents the most significant growth across all grade levels, and we could not be more proud of our students and teachers for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance throughout the year. Kindergarten is about so much more than learning letters and sounds. It is about building confidence, friendships, independence, and the love of learning. These students have grown in every way possible, and their success deserves to be celebrated! Way to go Park Kindergarten! WE GREW!

During the afternoon this past Thursday in Ms. Titmus’ 4th grade class, students participated in a group counting game that focused on teamwork and strategy. Students had to pay close attention to energy, body language, and pacing with their classmates. While they struggled at first, they continued to work together, stayed focused, and were successful in the end. Way to go!

Friday was our annual Celebration in Education Day and it was tons of fun!

Ms. McKenna braved the chilly weather and even colder bucket of water in our dunk tank. A couple of students got her good! We appreciated all of our brave souls who spent some time as sitting ducks.

There were a lot of activities for students to enjoy, all thanks to the amazing efforts of the Park Elementary PTO. From mini-golf to face painting to bounce houses to obstacles courses, the students were able to truly enjoy themselves and celebrate the end of the school year.

Thanks to the PTO and everyone else who helped make the final Park Celebration in Education Day a blast! Here is a small sampling of the fun that was had by all.
