Today, we had a crew respond to a commercial structure fire in Dravosburg. The rehab focused on hydration and provided a shaded area for first responders to take a break from the heat.

Once we cleared the scene, we met up with a few more fire stations to donate power water to them.

Today we were incredibly blessed to receive an amazing donation of 19 pallets of power water—684 cases in total! 💙💧

Because of the generosity of our donors, we were able to share this donation with 40 fire stations and emergency service agencies that we regularly work alongside throughout our response area.

Firefighter rehabilitation is truly a team effort, and staying hydrated is critical to keeping our firefighters and first responders safe during emergencies. We are proud to support those who support our communities every day.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made this donation possible. Your generosity doesn't just help our Rehab Unit—it helps countless firefighters and EMS personnel across our region.
Together, we're building stronger partnerships, healthier responders, and safer communities.

🚒💙 684 cases. 19 pallets. 40 stations. One incredible community of support

I was unable to tag every company, but we appreciate everyone coming out and being a part of this.

Tonight, while the rehab was doing some training, crews were requested for a structure fire in North Braddock. Our team members were heavily passing out water and setting up an area for them to cool down at. We were working along with local medics to make sure no one was overheated or injured.

While we were operating, we were alerted for a structure fire in Munhall. Our crews met up with command to work out a plan to get crews and equipment at both incidents. The rehab left equipment in North Braddock so the medics can continue to monitor everyone easier.

In Munhall, our team walked water and snacks around while the fire crews worked to extinguish the fire. We provided the family with a few pet items to help their cats calm down a little.

Overall, everyone worked together to make both incidents go as smooth as they could despite the heat.

With the current heat advisory in effect, please take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you.

💧 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don't feel thirsty.
☀️ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat when outside.
❄️ Take frequent breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned area.
👶👵 Check on children, older adults, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.

Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly. Watch for signs such as dizziness, headache, nausea, excessive sweating, confusion, or muscle cramps. If someone shows signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, move them to a cooler place, begin cooling them, and seek medical attention if needed.
Our rehab team is committed to keeping responders safe during emergencies, but these same heat safety tips apply to everyone. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe!

Around 11:30 am, the rehab was brought into West Mifflin on the second alarm for a residential structure fire. We worked along with Baldwin EMS to make sure all of the first responders were not getting too overheated in the summer heat and keeping them hydrated. We operated by walking around water and cooling towels while some stayed in our tent area to monitor people. We were on scene for approximately 5 hours.

We go through approximately 9-12 cases of water in an average call. Today we used around 18 cases of water.

If you would like to help keep our water stock full, please do so by dropping off a case of water or Gatorade to our station! Message us here and we can coordinate with you.
