Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $22.93 / hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Retirement: 401(a) plan, Health Care Savings Plan, 457(b) deferred compensation plan

Core Responsibilities:
• Provide information, assistance, and guidance to veterans and their dependents on available federal, state, local government, and community benefits and resources.
• Prepare, submit, and advocate for veterans' benefit claims and appeals with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies.
• Review medical documentation and supporting evidence under HIPAA guidelines to strengthen disability compensation and other benefit claims.
• Monitor changes in VA regulations and legislation to ensure accurate guidance of benefits and services.
• Communicate with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, veteran organizations, and other agencies on behalf of veterans.
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
• Assist veterans and their dependents in applying for the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for emergent needs.
• Operate various office equipment, including computers, copiers, facsimile machines, and software programs, alongside managing complex administrative duties like reports and grant administration.
• Write and execute grants for additional services to veterans and families in Alger County.
Requirements & Certification:
• Successfully complete NACVSO accreditation training and maintain accreditation with the VA.
• Obtain a VA PIV card.
