REGISTER NOW FOR THE 4TH ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT BLOCK PARTY CONTEST!
For the fourth straight year, the Munster Police Department will be holding town-wide block parties on Saturday, August 1st (rain date the following day) in advance of this year's National Night Out Celebration that is taking place the following Tuesday evening. Neighborhood blocks or subdivisions are encouraged to organize block parties to promote unity amongst their neighbors that afternoon and evening. To encourage participation, the Munster Town Council has waived all associated fees for block parties for that day only.

This year, parties will be visited by appointment by larger groups of police department representatives (and Munster firefighters) who will go around throughout the afternoon and evening to visit each of the parties throughout town to select the winners of this year's BLOCK UNITY AWARDS. The winners will be presented with signs at the National Night Out Celebration on August 4th which will be posted in their neighborhoods on a later date.

Participating blocks or subdivisions MUST RSVP BY NO LATER THAN JULY 1ST by emailing our Community Oriented Policing Unit at [email protected] with your contact person, location, contact number/email, requested visit time (first come/first serve--visits will be approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the number of participating neighborhoods), and time duration of your party. All parties must end by 10:00pm. Thank you in advance for your participation this year!

We would like to thank the NWI Sox 10U Team for organizing a Wiffle Ball Fundraising Game in cooperation with the Munster Police Department and Munster Fire Department on Friday, May 15th to benefit the Munster High School Best Buddies Club. The event was held at Wilbur Wright Middle School and was a fun night for everyone involved.

That evening, the Sox played a wiffle ball game versus a combined team of police officers and firefighters. In addition to the game, there was also a performance of the National Anthem, a first pitch ceremony, candy sales, other fundraising items, music, and more. We were recently informed that the event SURPASSED ITS FUNDRAISING GOAL--thank you to everyone who helped to make that happen.

SPECIAL THANKS to Lauren Wallace, Becky Timmer, and Kristina Staniszeski from the NWI Sox team and to Officer Brian Bernardino from our police department for their leadership in organizing this event, and to each of the sponsors, players, parents, and attendees for your support!
