EVENT UPDATE:
Due to the August 11th storm, Bieker Woods is no longer available to use for our annual Bieker Woods Night Walk event.

Munster Parks and the Girl Scouts are happy to announce that we will still be running this event, but this year it will be inside at Wilbur Wright Middle School! You can expect the same event that has always been in the woods, including the food trucks.

We can't wait to see you all on October 17th at WWMS!

Calling all foodies! Check out some tasty treats that melt in your mouth. This tour is designed with you in mind as you sample, shop, learn and enjoy the foods of the local culture. In the heart of Amish Country visit some of the local Shipshewana gems such as a giant bulk food store with time to shop where the locals shop! The tour will also stop at other Amish gems such as a bakery, a noodle maker, a cheesemaking facility or a pretzel making shop just to name a few of the scrumptious, mouth-watering treats you can sample on your journey. A local guide will join you on your journey offering tidbits and stories of the Amish way of life and explaining their gift of creating amazing food! Lunch today is at an Amish homestead where you will enjoy an Amish Threshers meal complete with their incredible homemade pies!

🚨 Federal Disaster Declaration Update 🚨
The Governor's office is working with local officials to prepare a request for a Federal Major Disaster Declaration for our region.

💰 Why it matters: this declaration can unlock additional federal assistance for communities, municipalities, and eligible individuals and households as we recover from storm damage.

📋 What we're doing: the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is conducting damage assessments right now. Munster has hired a debris monitoring firm that is recording and verifying the amount of debris collected. We are also tracking all purchases/spending from our office.

✅ What you can do: if you haven't already, report storm damage and unmet needs through Indiana 211.

Documenting damage now helps strengthen the case for federal assistance later. Every report matters as we work to make sure every community and every eligible resident can access every available resource. 💪
