Based in the idea that those affected by injustice are their own most effective advocates and that the arts offer a unique opportunity to amplify the voices of those that typically go unheard, The Lavinia Project seeks to provide a forum in which survivors of domestic and sexual violence can share their stories through writing and other mediums in order to raise awareness and affect social change.

The group holds bi-weekly meetings and workshop sessions, culminating in an annual publication and event featuring the works of members. The ultimate goal or mission of the Lavinia Project is to use writing and the arts to humanize and legitimize the experiences of survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and thus begin to tilt the discussion that surrounds these issues toward prevention and deterrence of abusive behavior.

Hey guys and gals! Hope everyone had a fantastic spring break. We will be continuing our bi-weekly meetings starting back up this Monday, the 13th, at 3:30pm in the Todd conference room. We will be covering our future meeting times and dates as well as going over a calendar of upcoming events that are right around the corner for us, so please spread the word and bring some friends!
