🚨 NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

The Rutherford County Library System Board of Directors will hold a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at the Technology Engagement Center, 306 Minerva Drive, Murfreesboro, TN. The Board will conduct Zoom interviews with applicants for the RCLS Executive Director position.

Meetings are open to the public. Requests for an accommodation to enable an individual with a disability to attend a meeting should be made by calling Elsa Britt at (615) 962-7424, at least two (2) working days in advance. Women's Equality Day

On August 26, we mark the anniversary of the 19th Amendment's certification in 1920, which gave women the constitutional right to vote.

But the amendment did not guarantee equal access to the ballot for all women. Black women, Indigenous women, and other women of color continued to face discriminatory laws and practices for decades afterward, including poll taxes, literacy tests, and intimidation.

At the League of Women Voters, we honor the whole history and keep working to protect and expand the right to vote for everyone.
