One year ago today, Ed the Zebra became an internet sensation after escaping and taking a six-day tour of Rutherford County.

While Ed's adventure inspired memes, stories, songs, and headlines across the country, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department joined in on the fun by announcing Ed as our "newest recruit."

Although Ed never reported for duty, he certainly earned a reputation for being fast, elusive, and difficult to catch.

Happy one-year anniversary to Rutherford County's most famous zebra!
