Rich Tennessee History

In 1795 there was a man that was given 1,920 acres from a Revolutionary War grant and his name was Aaron Jenkins. He split that land up between several family members. His wife got some of the land that they lived on and he gave some to two of his sons, Ni**od and Hiram. I took Hiram’s story and followed it. I do know that Ni**od died an early death and his wife inherited the property he was given. They had two children; Mary Virginia and Alice Nimmie. Hiram was something of an architect and have designed and built his and his brothers house. The one shown is Hiram’s Manor. Hiram was married and had children, but for reasons unknown to me, he either sold or trusted his property to his niece, Nimmie Jenkins, who married Dr James Joseph (JJ) Rucker. Dr Rucker is the namesake to Rucker Lane here in Murfreesboro. Nimmie and Dr Rucker had Mary Rucker the namesake to the mansion!

Mary went on to marry Ridley Edward Donnell and had a daughter that was trusted the house. Her name was Dorothy Donnell Eanes. Dorothy’s daughter Mary Ann Eanes Harwell and her son Fred T. Eanes were the last of the family to own the house. Sadly, Mary Ann passed away in 2008 of cancer. I would have hoped that she could have lived to see the house restored to something amazing again. In her honor, I hope that the community can come together and help save the Marymont Mansion!
