MTSU Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center The Daniels Center is a place for military-connected students and non-students to receive assistance. Stop by KUC 124 & 316 to see us!

The goal of the Daniels Center is to assist current military, Veterans, and their family members as they transition from military service to the civilian workforce. We offer trusted education, employment, and health & wellness assistance. The 3,200-square-foot center is located in Rooms 124 & 316 of Keathley University Center (KUC), right in the heart of the MTSU campus. It is on the first floor o

f KUC, next to the campus post office. The Daniels Center is the largest and most comprehensive Veterans Center on any Tennessee higher education campus. It provides both the 1,100 average military-connected student population enrolled on campus and military-connected non-students a one-stop shop to meet a variety of academic, career, and social needs. In addition to assisting you with your academic needs, the Daniels Center is a great place to study, relax, and connect with other veterans. We have computers, free printing, snacks, access to a refrigerator and microwave, a lounge area with a TV, coffee, and other beverages for you to use and enjoy while you're here.

Good news! With the completion of the KOM renovation, we will be back at the Veterans Memorial for the 9/11 Remembrance and the Veterans Memorial portion of the Salute Football game. If you are not tracking these two events, please mark your calendars now.

The 9/11 Remembrance will be at 7.30 AM on 11 SEP. The guest speaker this year is Dr. Tim Rosser.

The Salute Football game is on 19 SEP. We always start the day off by remembering our Military. This year, on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we are honoring the Veterans of the War for Independence, our first American Veterans. The Nunley Award winner will also be announced at this event. Please- as always- join us!

As part of the recent renovation, our timeline was installed yesterday, which outlines MTSU’s long commitment to the military, Service Members, and military families. Today, we were fortunate to have members of the Luscinski family drop by to see it. The Luscinskis are aviators, they are MTSU fans, and they are a Gold Star Family.

CPT James T. Luscinski died in Quang Tri Province (I Corps) South Vietnam on October 8, 1969, while on a rescue support mission in his AH-1G gunship for “D” Company, 158th Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. Luscinski was flying a rescue support mission to locate another AH-1G that had crashed in bad weather in the A Shau Valley when enemy ground fire struck the tail rotor of his aircraft, causing it to spin and crash, killing both crewmembers. He was awarded a Silver Star, Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and a Purple Heart.

CPT Luscinski is memorialized at the MTSU Veterans Memorial on campus. A picture of his brother Larry Luscinski visiting the Memorial is now a permanent part of the timeline in the Daniels Center.
