Another successful RCEMS Employee In-Service in the books! 🚑👏

A big thank you to our Peer Support Group for serving lunch on one of the training days, keeping our crews taken care of and supported throughout the event.

We also appreciate our generous partners who helped fuel our teams — Chick-fil-A sponsored by Ascension Saint Thomas and StatFlight on Day 1, and freshly smoked BBQ by Adam with Vanderbilt LifeFlight on Day 2 🍗🔥

Thank you as well to all of our speakers and instructors who helped make this year’s in-service another success. We’re grateful for everyone who continues to invest in RCEMS and our crews! 💙

Big thanks to the team at The Human Bean for keeping Medic 4, Medic 15, & Medic 11 fueled up today with some much-needed energy drinks ☕⚡️

Our crews got a sneak peek before their official opening on June 5th and happily volunteered as guinea pigs for the cause 😅 Safe to say they passed the test!

We appreciate the support for first responders and can’t wait to see them officially open their doors to the community 🫶

EMS Week – EMS Remembrance Day

Today, during EMS Week, we pause in solemn remembrance of the EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

These are the medics, EMTs, dispatchers, and first responders who answered the call without hesitation—who showed up for others on their worst day, even when it cost them everything. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness are woven into the very foundation of our profession.

We honor their service not only with gratitude, but with responsibility—to carry forward the standard they set, to protect one another, and to never forget the weight and purpose of what we do.

To the families left behind: your loved ones are not forgotten. Their legacy lives on in every life saved, every patient comforted, and every call answered with compassion and courage. We share in your loss, and we honor them alongside you.

Today we remember.
Today we reflect.
And today, we stand together in their honor. 🖤🚑

Today, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service joined the Rutherford County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in honoring three unclaimed veterans during a memorial service held with Full Military Honors.

We pause to remember and recognize:

🇺🇸 Robert Hoover – Army – PV2 (Private Second Class) – Vietnam Era – 1973-1976
🇺🇸 Owen Francis Thompson – Army – SP4 (Specialist 4) – Peace Time – 1978-1981
🇺🇸 Jesse Lee Williams (AKA Jessie Lee Williamson) – Navy – F1C (Fireman First Class) – WWII – 1944-1946

While no living family members were identified for PV2 Hoover or SP4 Thompson, today they were not alone. Our community stood together to ensure each of these veterans received the honor, dignity, and respect they earned through their service to our country.

Despite the steady rain throughout the service, a large crowd gathered to pay their respects — a powerful reminder that gratitude, honor, and remembrance endure through every storm.

We also recognize the extraordinary efforts that led to the identification of F1C Williams decades after his passing. Through the work of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Sergeant Richard Brinkley, and advanced forensic genetic genealogy conducted by Othram, Inc., a family connection was finally made after nearly 50 years.

It was a privilege to stand alongside our partners and community members to pay final respects to these servicemen. May we always remember their sacrifice and service. ❤️🤍💙

EMS Week 2026 – Save-A-Life Day ❤️

Today on Save-A-Life Day, we recognize the moments and the providers that define what EMS is truly about—rapid action, teamwork, and relentless patient care when every second matters.

We are proud to highlight RCEMS crew members CC-P Jeremy Coleman, AEMT Emalie Carlock (now serving elsewhere), and Shift Commander Wendy Lampley, who were recently honored as 2026 State Winners at the Star of Life Awards for their extraordinary response to a critical head-on motor vehicle accident.

The patient involved sustained multiple serious injuries and was found in critical condition. During care, the patient experienced cardiac arrest and remained pulseless for approximately 24 minutes. Through highly coordinated, well-communicated, and uninterrupted advanced resuscitative efforts—both on scene and in collaboration with responding agencies—ROSC was achieved.

Because of the determination of the patient and the exceptional level of care delivered by all involved, the patient’s only reported remaining deficit is mild blurry vision.

This recognition reflects not only the skill and commitment of this RCEMS crew, but also the importance of seamless teamwork under extreme pressure. We also extend appreciation to our partnering agencies, including Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department and Vanderbilt Lifeflight, for their roles in this response.

Today we honor the lives saved, the crews behind them, and the standard of care they continue to set for our community.

EMS Week 2026 — EMS & ME 💙🚑

This EMS Week, Paramedics Matt Parker and Nathan Whitaker are being recognized for their outstanding patient care, strong clinical performance, and dependable partnership with the team at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center.

Matt Parker received a rare double recognition from two different employees—highlighting both his individual impact and his work alongside his crew. His consistency, professionalism, and thoughtfulness clearly leave a lasting impression across the department.

For his solo recognition, StoneCrest ED Staff shared:

“He brought our nurses Crumbl cookies for nurses’ week! He had been in the ED earlier in the day and saw that we were really busy and brought back cookies to cheer everyone up. That was incredibly thoughtful!!”

We’re not saying cookies buy votes… but the timing was definitely appreciated. 😋🍪

For the crew recognition, Caroline Nix, RN – ED, shared:

“Happy EMS Week to one of the best crews! Saving lives, keeping their cool and somehow still making it look easy. We’re so lucky to work alongside you and so thankful for everything you do. You guys are the real MVPs”

Thank you, Matt and Nathan, for your commitment to excellent care and the teamwork you bring to every call during EMS Week and beyond.
