I would like to give the Pike county road crew some props! Pike county won this award for the best chip and seal road in the state for 2025! They worked hard for this award by setting up the Head and Strawberry roads, and doing it the right way! This goes to show that given the right equipment, and enough money in the budget, we can be as good as anyone in the state! This award proves we have the right process in rebuilding these roads, and we will continue rebuilding all of our roads the correct way.

Domtar is preparing to restart the Glenwood sawmill on Monday, March 30th that was curtailed in 2025 in response to weaker lumber demand conditions. The restart reflects recent improvements and the opportunity to support current customer needs. Operations will ramp up in a measured and phased approach over the next few weeks to ensure safe, reliable performance and alignment with current demand.

Throughout the restart process, our focus will remain on operating safely and supporting our employees, customers and communities while managing our assets in a responsible way.

I found out this morning Pike county will be receiving the next installment of money from FEMA in the amount of $458,711.70. That brings our total amount up to $1,172,571.44.
It has taken a lot of work to get us here since the flood of April 5, 2025. Some people just assume that you stick your hand out and they give us this money, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. This money will be used to build two new drainages that are badly needed.
There has been a lot of confusion over this money that frankly, has come from people that don’t know anything
about it. That’s why it’s so important we apply for and receive money that doesn’t come out of our budget, because we can’t afford projects like these. God bless everyone.
