SPRUCE PINE, N.C. — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is providing details regarding an incident that occurred earlier today while Special Agents were serving an arrest warrant near 12021 NC Highway 226 in Spruce Pine.

A team of Special Agents, in cooperation with Spruce Pine Police Department, was serving an arrest warrant on a subject charged with two counts of Statutory S*x Offense with a child 15 years or younger and one count of Statutory R**e of a child 15 years or younger. When approached by the Special Agents, the suspect drew a concealed weapon and sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The discharged round also struck an SBI Special Agent in his protective vest.

SBI agents immediately rendered medical aid and secured the scene. The suspect was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect is identified as Timothy Alan Hoilman (DOB 06/22/1973).

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the Spruce Pine Police Department responded to the scene and assisted.

*** WAYNE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION ***

(GOLDSBORO, N.C.) — The Goldsboro Police Department, as an affiliate of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, remains committed to investigating crimes involving the exploitation and victimization of children. On May 15, 2026, members of the ICAC Task Force executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Woodbine Road in Goldsboro as part of an ongoing investigation involving the s*xual exploitation of children. During the investigation, investigators located and seized numerous files containing child pornographic images.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the Wayne County Detention Center. The suspect was issued a $125,000 secured bond by a magistrate. The suspect is identified as 39-year-old NICHOLAS GANGEMI of Goldsboro. He has been charged with:

Goldsboro Man Arrested on 10 Counts of S*xual Exploitation

(GOLDSBORO, N.C.) — The Goldsboro Police Department became a part of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in March 2026. Through this partnership, the Goldsboro Police Department collaborates with the NCSBI in investigations involving the exploitation and victimization of children. On May 11, 2026, members of the ICAC Task Force executed a search warrant in the 900 block of South Best Street in Goldsboro, North Carolina. During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of numerous files containing child pornographic images.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the Wayne County Detention Center. The suspect was placed under a $50,000 secured bond, as determined by the magistrate.

(ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C.) -- The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is assisting the Onslow County Sheriff's Office regarding an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation.

Onslow County Deputies and SBI Coastal District Special Agents served a search warrant at 216 Rudolph Lane, Hubert, NC. As a result, Craig Mitchell Sanderson (DOB: 06/20/1984) has been arrested and charged today with:

-- 8 counts of Second Degree S*xual Exploitation of a Minor

Sanderson is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under NO BOND. He will make a first appearance on Monday in an Onslow County Court.
