Welcoming Partners in the Fight Against Childhood Hunger!
Cherokee County School Nutrition Director Jennifer Hibberts was honored to welcome Andrew Harrell and Thompson Bertschy from the Carolina Hunger Initiative and No Kid Hungry to Cherokee County today.
We are incredibly grateful for the partnership we have built with these organizations. Working together, we have been able to provide three Summer Meals To-Go pickup sites across Cherokee County this summer, helping ensure that children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out.
In addition to their collaboration, No Kid Hungry has also awarded Cherokee County School Nutrition grant funding to support our summer feeding efforts, allowing us to expand services and better meet the needs of our community.
These partnerships make a real difference in the lives of our students and families. Thank you to the Carolina Hunger Initiative and No Kid Hungry for your continued commitment to ending childhood hunger and for helping us ensure that no child in Cherokee County goes hungry.

Not only do we have our pick-up meals available starting next Monday, but we will also be serving hot breakfast and lunch daily all summer long!

Jennifer Hibberts, Director of School Nutrition, was proud to present EVERY cafeteria in Cherokee County Schools earned a 100% sanitation score for the 2025–2026 school year!

What an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our entire School Nutrition Team.

This year brought additional challenges, including a week-long review by federal auditors who conducted an extensive examination of every aspect of our program. Thanks to the commitment and excellence of our staff, the audit was completed with outstanding results.

We could not be more proud of this exceptional team and the high standards they maintain every day to serve our students.

We are excited to announce that we will be serving Sun Meals To-Go at three locations throughout the county this summer! Please see the attached flyer for details and use the included information to pre-register for meal pick-up.

This program is available for all children in Cherokee County, not just children currently enrolled in school. We encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity to help ensure children have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months.
