Last week Probationary Firefighter Braden Rider graduated from the 12 week Fire Academy in Peoria, IL. The academy staff described him as a leader and hard working during his training. He is already serving you on Shift 3. Braden is from Anna, but is close to buying a home in Murphysboro. If you see him out and about, welcome him to the Fire Department!

THANK YOU, MARTEL’S PIZZA! 🍕
The Murphysboro Fire Department would like to extend a huge thank you to Martel’s Pizza for their generous donation of 10 pizzas to feed the search crews today.
Our personnel—alongside the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County EMA, Illinois State Police, U.S. Conservation Police, and our fellow first responders from M.P.S., Ava, De Soto, Elkville, and Campbell Hill Fire Departments—have been working hard searching the Little Grand Canyon area.
When operations run this long, community support keeps our crews fueled and moving forward. We truly appreciate Martel's stepping up to take care of us while we work to bring Kameron home.

Today is International Firefighters Day! I want to take a minute to recognize the men of the Murphysboro Fire Department who do the lions share of the work everyday. These men show up no matter the time of day to answer the emergency calls in the City. They may be few in number but their work ethic is unmatched and they don't stop until the job is done. Murphysboro is lucky to have this group protecting them!

Last night your Murphysboro Firefighters assisted the Carbondale Fire Department with a multi-story apartment building fire. The fire was quickly contained with an aggressive fire attack. One of the firefighters on the suppression team was none other than Chief McBride's daughter Connor. This was the first fire that the two have worked together since she graduated the fire academy a few months ago. A memory made for both of them.
