An emergency struck and left us with an extra dozen eggs from our poultry kits - instead of changing the purpose of them, we pulled out our extra incubator and took to incubating them in the office!

Chickens take 21 days to hatch - and we’re a week in. So 14 days remain before we’ll start seeing little chicks! Follow along as we share updates - including candling in a few days!

The Jackson County Summer Ag Institute was held May 30th-31st. We had 16 educators attend teaching anywhere from pre-k to high school.

We had many presenters throughout the two day institute including Illinois Ag in the Classroom, Southern Illinois Food Works, Jackson County Ag in the Classroom, Illinois Soybean Association, St. Louis Dairy Council, Murphysboro Extension office, and Jackson County Farm Bureau. We also got to taste locally grow produce and products from Flamm Orchards, Mileur Orchards, and Rendleman Orchards.

We got to tour three different places throughout the two days those include McNitt Growers, Touch of Nature, and Blue Sky Vineyard.

Thank you to all that attended and all that presented! We had so much fun hosting these educators and cannot wait to work with each of them throughout the school year!
