A former preacher in her home country, this client found it difficult to access parts of herself that had faded due to her traumatic past. When she first came to us, she would stay at home, unable to leave the house and unwilling to talk to anyone.

Now, she has reconnected with those parts of herself that felt long gone. Among other successes, she is working with our case managers and medical case manager who have helped her find a clinic that is only a short walk away from her home. Allowing her to live independently and spend quality time outside of the house.

Torture happens every day. And ending it is everyone's work.

There's no single path to advocacy. One of the most direct ways to make a difference is by supporting survivors, because behind every statistic is a person who needs to know the world hasn't forgotten them.

They're who we are, and who we're always working to be.

One month out from International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

Last year, we came together in a way that reminded us why this work matters. Not just the cause, but the community behind it.

This year, we're doing a potluck again. More details coming soon. We hope you'll join us!

This is what we show up for, every day.
