BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!

Over the last week, many local businesses have received numerous phone calls from third party vendors asking them to sponsor our schools.

Any callers from out of state asking for donations or sponsorships for posters, calendars, t-shirts, or other promotional items are not associated with our district and do not benefit our students. All of our fundraising in our school district is done locally by our students, parents, and staff.

We appreciate the continued support of our giving community. If you are interested in donating or sponsoring within our school district, please work with our local coaches, club sponsors, and booster clubs to ensure that our students benefit from your generosity.

CCMS 7th graders were back at it in STEM class learning about buoyancy!

After learning about what it takes to keep a boat floating and able to carry weight in the water, students were tasked with building boats from only cardboard and duct tape that stay afloat!

Congrats to our CCHS Robotics Team!

They received a $5,000 TVA STEM Robotics Award, sponsored by TVA and BVI and administered by the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network.

The Laker Robotics team competes annually in local and statewide competitions against other high schools in numerous fields of robotics.

The Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN), in partnership with Battelle Education, continues to invest in the future of STEM learning by providing robotics grant opportunities that enhance hands-on learning experiences for students. Through these grants, schools are able to expand robotics programs, purchase equipment, and create opportunities for students to develop critical skills in engineering, coding, problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. TSIN's mission is to strengthen STEM education across the region and prepare students for success in high-demand careers while fostering the next generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders.

Congrats to our CCHS Future Farmers of America! FOUR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!

They earned multiple state championships and top-five finishes against some of the best FFA competitors in the Commonwealth during the Kentucky State Fair in August.

Leading the way was Colson Crouch, who was named State Champion Overall To***co Exhibitor and earned another State Championship in Dark Air-Cured Green To***co Stick competition.

Additional individual state champions included Mason Falwell, who captured the State Championship in Seed Identification, and Dakotah Pittman, who earned the title of State Champion in Burley Crop competition.

The chapter also recorded several impressive team and individual accomplishments:

State Runner-Up Wildlife Team: DJ Hinson, Japheth Miller, Bella Norsworthy, and Emma Van Rooy
State Runner-Up White Corn: Cash Pittman
3rd Place State Agronomy Team: Memphis Bray, Emerson Herndon, Jaylee McLeod, and Grayson Roberts
4th Place State Auctioneer: Colton Brooks
4th Place Corn Production Exhibit: Walker Bell, Colson Crouch, Evan Falwell, Mason Falwell, Cash Pittman, and Dakotah Pittman
5th Place State Meats Evaluation Team: Serenity Byrley, Evan Falwell, Lila Fulton, and Bella Norsworthy

The CCHS FFA has now won 86 different state championships over the last 22 years.

Congrats and welcome to Kelly Overbey, our newest member of the Calloway County Board of Education!

He was sworn in and welcomed at the August meeting held last week.

Overbey is a local farmer and represents a northern portion of the county. He and his wife, Brittany, have two children who attend Calloway schools.
