Second Chance Dog Rescue

Second Chance Dog Rescue We do not receive financial aid from the government and rely directly on donations and grants to stay running.

Second Chance is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue that serves in Murray, Kentucky, and surrounding counties. 501c3 means that we are tax-deductible, so any donations you give will be taken off your taxes. We do not have a permanent facility yet and are foster-based. This means that while the number of animals we can take in is limited to the number of fosters we can get, every animal is treated as

a part of the family until their forever homes can be found. This makes the transition from shelter life to forever home much easier for both pets and humans. It allows us to get to know our animals on a personal level and be able to truly evaluate what they need in a home, which allows us to better match up a pet to a family's needs. This means, while we will take animals back if the fit just isn't right, we rarely have to because we find the perfect fit the first time. We are limited on space, but are happy to help network any animal in need of a home! We focus mainly on dogs, but will also take in cats or any animal in need. We are not set up to take in farm animals but will help where we can so please do not hesitate to contact us if there is an animal in need. We may not be able to take it to our rescue, but we will do our absolute best to find a home for it. Feel free to message us with any questions about the rescue, our animals, or how you could help us grow and save more animals. Adoptable animals can be found on our website at https://tdarnell2.wixsite.com/secondchancemurray/adopt

🐾 Meet Charlie: The Ultimate Cuddle-Bug & Adventurer! 🐾
Are you looking for a best friend who is already perfectly trained and ready to settle into your home? Here’s Charlie! At 7 years young, this charming Dachshund/Beagle mix has all the wisdom of an adult dog with the loving heart and playfulness of a puppy.
Charlie is the definition of a "good girl"—she is house-trained, leash-trained, spayed, and just had her annual checkup and dental cleaning (she is all set!). Her manners are excellent, and she absolutely adores people, children, and is great with other dogs and cats.
What she’s looking for:
A Bedtime Buddy: She is a professional burrower who loves to snuggle under the covers.
A Fenced Yard: Her "adventurous nose" takes her on scent-tracking adventures, so she needs a secure fence to keep her safe while she sniffs.
A Little Help with Fitness: She is currently on a "winter diet" to shed a few unwanted pounds, so she is looking for a family to share healthy walks with!
Charlie is pure love. If you need a devoted, affectionate companion, please reach out to us.

Meet Indie. She’s a mature girl at 11 years old. She is spayed, healthy and housetrained. She is great with other dogs as well as kids. Indie ‘s person has fallen very ill and will not be returning home to care for her. She is an inside girl that enjoys her outdoor time. A fenced yard is needed, on nice days she enjoys basking in the sun, enjoying the outdoors. Indie is a full blooded Husky, she will need brushing several times a week to keep dead coat lying on her skin, it’s the best way to control shedding. A monthly deshed would help tremendously. Indie would be a great addition to any family especially if you have young children that enjoy spending time with dogs. If you’d like to meet Indie. Let us know. We will supply you with Indie’s caretaker information. ❤️ She’s a beauty in so many ways . Please share to get Indie more exposure.

Coco is an older girl that needs a cozy home to hang out with her people. She is not a fan of other dogs but is great with children. A home with just her to be loved on and enjoy her golden years. Please share, Coco needs more exposure, her perfect home is out there somewhere. We just need to find it for her.

Coco is now officially our longest adoptable resident.
At 9 years old this is definitely no place for a senior girl.
Coco is house trained, low energy, and GREAT with children.
We are unsure about cats, and she seems to not be a fan of other dogs, we think her old age, she’d rather just lounge around and be with her people.
Coco is heartworm positive but has received treatment and just needs a follow up test in a year.

Please share and help get coco out. Her golden years don’t deserve to be spent in a facility.
