These six individuals have stepped up to advocate for children in our community who have experienced abuse and neglect. Their willingness to serve means more children will have a voice and support during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

We are incredibly thankful for each of them and the difference they will make for local children and families. Help us give our newest volunteers a warm welcome as they begin their journey as CASA advocates!

What does a CASA volunteer do?

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer appointed by a judge to advocate for a child who has experienced dependency, abuse, or neglect!

CASA volunteers take the time to get to know the child, gather information from everyone involved in the case, and provide independent recommendations to the court based on what is in the child’s best interest.

The mission of CASA by the Lakes is to advocate for the best interests of children in the court system and to help ensure they have the opportunity to grow up in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home for children in Marshall, Calloway and Christian Counties.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers in Christian County to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children who have experienced dependency, abuse, and neglect!

You do not need a background in social work or law. All you need is compassion, consistency, and a willingness to speak up for a child who needs a voice!

As a CASA volunteer, you will:
• Build a meaningful connection with a child
• Advocate for their best interests in court
• Help ensure they have the support and stability they deserve

What a great month April was for CASA by the Lakes!
From pinwheel plantings to community events, our annual dinner, and my personal favorite—our coffee sleeve initiative—it’s been a month full fun and awareness! We are so grateful to serve three incredible communities that continue to show up and support our mission in meaningful ways.

A huge thank you to Shaffer Coffee Co., Purpose Church, Dub House Coffee, and The Corner Coffeehouse for partnering with us to wrap up the month strong with our coffee sleeves, and to our amazing elementary school friends at Jonathan Elementary, Benton Elementary, South Hopkins Elementary, and Murray Elementary who helped bring them to life with their creativity.
