On May 29, 2026 Steven Garner was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility after being arrested in Graves County on a 2025 Calloway County indictment warrant. The Calloway County Narcotics detectives had conducted an investigation and found Garner had trafficked co***ne in excess of 4 grams.

On May 27, 2026 at approximately1:00 pm, deputies arrested Larry Hernandez at a residence on Kline Trail. It is believed that Hernandez falsely reported a collision with injuries. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On 5/23/2026 at 3:49 AM, the Murray Police Department responded to a residence on the south side of Murray in reference to a report of a shooting. Officers responded and determined that no one had been injured. Through investigation, officers learned that Vi Jay Hill (25) of Murray, KY was at the residence and had started shooting a firearm at an individual in the residence and fled the area. Additionally, there were three other individuals inside the residence nearby when the shooting occurred. Mr. Hill was located by deputies of the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the investigation, the Murray Police Department arrested and charged Mr. Hill with Attempted Murder and three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
The Murray Police Department would like to remind everyone that any person charged with a criminal offense is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On May 24, 2026, at approximately 1:00 am, deputies were called to assist Murray Calloway County EMS at a residence on 3rd Street in Almo when a female assaulted them. No serious injuries were reported. The subject was transported to the Calloway County Detention Facility.

Four years ago today, our Calloway County Sheriff’s Office family lost Chief Deputy Jody Cash in the line of duty. While time continues to move forward, there is not a day that passes that he is not remembered by those who had the honor of serving beside him, knowing him, and loving him.

Jody was more than a badge. He was a husband, a father, a friend, a brother in law enforcement, and a servant to this community. His dedication, courage, and willingness to protect others at all costs embodied what it truly means to wear the uniform. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, we pause to honor his memory and reflect on the lasting impact he made on this office and this community. We ask that you continue to keep Chief Deputy Cash’s family, friends, and fellow deputies in your thoughts and prayers as we remember a hero taken far too soon.
