Yesterday, our Dive Team was requested to respond into Allegheny County to assist with an evidence recovery operation in the Monongahela River.

During the operation, divers utilized multiple specialized search techniques and technologies, including systematic search patterns, high- and low-frequency sonar, pole cameras, and an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to conduct a thorough search of the area.

We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside our public safety partners during this operation, including the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team, Elizabeth Borough Volunteer Fire Department, Pennsylvania State Police Marine Division, Braddock Police Department, and Duquesne Police Department.

Successful operations like these are made possible through regional cooperation, specialized training, and the commitment of all agencies involved.

Last week, several members of our Dive Team had the privilege of spending a few days with the students of Kiski Area High School discussing the field of underwater forensics. Team members shared information on vehicle and evidence recovery, preservation techniques, and the role divers play in underwater criminal investigations.

On the third day, the team conducted a live pool demonstration, giving students a firsthand look at specialized dive operations and recovery procedures.

We appreciate the opportunity to work with the students and staff at Kiski Area High School and help provide insight into this unique area of public safety and emergency services.
