Bank Robbery-Suspect in Custody
On Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 9:05 a.m., MUSCOM received a report of an armed robbery at U.S. Bank, located at 1800 Park Avenue in Muscatine. Officers were dispatched immediately.
Officers responded to the area and began searching for a male subject who had fled the scene.
A Muscatine County Deputy located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 38. Additional law enforcement units responded to assist. An Iowa State Trooper initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on Highway 38, just north of Highway 6.
The suspect, 38-year-old Mathew Rawson of Coralville, Iowa, was taken into custody without incident. Rawson is being held at the Muscatine County Jail on one count of Armed Robbery, with additional charges pending.
The Muscatine Police Department was assisted by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Wilton Police Department.

Rawson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
