We had our annual Field Day at Jefferson today! Students participated in classic games like tug-of-war, sack races, and more. We also enjoyed water games, human Hungry Hungry Hippos, and human bowling! It was a fun-filled day full of games, laughter, and smiles for everyone.

Special thank you to Steve Meyer at Tee's Ice Cream & Burgers for donating the ice cream in honor of his sister, Amy Meyer, who passed away in 2008. Amy was a beloved teacher at Washington School, and this generous donation was a meaningful way to honor her memory.

Tomorrow is our last day! While we sometimes count down to this day because we’re all a little tired, it’s also a bittersweet moment. Your children have truly become our children. Over the last 250 days, we’ve grown with them, learned with them, laughed with them, and loved them. Thank you for sharing them with us this year!

Tomorrow we will celebrate with a color run! Students will be outside from lunchtime until the end of the day. They will likely get wet and will be sprayed with color powder, so please send them in white shirts if you have them.

The sixth grade students at Jefferson Elementary created monsters based on drawings and descriptions from the kindergarten students, and the results were amazing!

Seeing the smiles on the kindergarteners’ faces today when they received their special monsters was absolutely priceless. What a fun and meaningful project that brought creativity, teamwork, and joy to so many students.

Way to go, Mrs. Schlawin, for organizing such a wonderful experience, and great job to all of the talented sixth graders for bringing these little imaginations to life! ❤️👾

🎉 Welcome to our Surprise Retirement Celebration! 🎉

Today we honor 7 incredible retirees whose combined 145 years of service have helped shape generations of students, families, and staff in Muscatine Schools. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment have made a lasting difference in our community.

Our students have prepared a very special send off to celebrate the impact these amazing educators and staff members have had on their lives. 💙

Thank you for the memories, the lessons, the encouragement, and the countless ways you have inspired others along the way. We have all certainly been “changed for good!”

From kindergarten beginnings to senior year milestones, what a special full-circle moment. Watching seniors walk the halls in their caps and gowns reminds our youngest learners that every day of hard work, growth, and perseverance matters.

Our kindergarteners had the honor of “cording” the seniors as they walked through, offering congratulations and celebrating all they have accomplished. Moments like these show that graduation truly starts in kindergarten, and the foundation built during the elementary years helps shape both learning and life.

We are so proud of our seniors and grateful for the example they set for our current students. Best of luck to the Class of 2026, your future is bright!

(As I write this post at 12:35, we still have graduating seniors playing with kids on the playground and playing in the gym. As you can see, even graduating seniors don’t want to leave Jefferson!)

We have our last PTO meeting tonight at 3:45! We are still in need of a few more parents who would like to step forward and be apart of the PTO executive board (it’s easy, I promise). Message me if you have any interest or know of a Jefferson parent that would be great!

What a great turnout for Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Day at Jefferson Elementary! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🛴

A huge thank you to the Muscatine Police and Fire Departments for helping make the morning both fun and educational. Students were able to learn important safety tips including:

It was a wonderful morning promoting healthy habits, safety, and community involvement. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event a success!!
