Muscatine County Conservation Board Muscatine County Conservation manages 11 areas. They offer a mix of day-use fishing, hunting, picnicking, and hiking.

The Muscatine County Conservation Board provides a variety of outdoor recreation and conservation education opportunities for people in Muscatine County and the surrounding area. In addition camping accommodations are available at the Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area. Our main office is in the Environmental Learning Center located in Discovery Park. The Environmental Learning Center offers numerou

s natural history exhibits featuring live reptiles, amphibians and fish of eastern Iowa. Discovery Park offers both paved and grass walking trails, two fishing ponds, and the Muscatine Arboretum. Today's the day! The Muscatine Triathlon begins at 8:00 am! The park will be closed to "normal" use. Come down to compete or support the Triathletes! There will be lots to see and do! Roads around the park will be closed for course safety. Access to the event will be via 57th street through Fruitland. Park in the grass at CHS and use the shuttle to get to the park!! We are looking forward to another great event!!

Deep Lakes Park CLOSED to normal activities today, Friday, July 31 through Saturday, August 1 around 5pm for the Muscatine Triathlon.

Friday, July 31, 2026
Deep Lakes Park's Main Access will be closed to normal traffic as the park is transformed for the Muscatine Triathlon. The Main Access including: Beach, Lake Chester Boat Landing, and road to the Cabins will be closed to the public.

Saturday, August 1, 2026
The entire Deep Lakes Park will be closed to "normal" activities until approximately 5:00 pm for the Muscatine Triathlon, but open to spectators and participants!

Race begins at 8:00 am - festivities wrap up around 3:00 pm (then clean-up begins)

Roads around DLP will be closed for race safety - this includes 41st Street, Stewart Road, and Pettibone

Parking for Spectators & Volunteers is on 57th Street on the South Side of the Park, in the grass at CHS. Access to the parking lot is through Fruitland on 57th Street.

Families and the public are invited to watch, visit vendor booths, participate in fun activities for kids and more

The Campground is open for camping, however, campers will NOT be able to enter or leave during the race time (Saturday from approx. 7:30 am-1:00 pm), but they will get a great view of the run portion of the race.

Deep Lakes Park will be closed to "normal" activities beginning first thing on Friday, July 31, 2026 through Saturday, August 1, 2026 in preparation for the 2nd Annual Muscatine Triathlon.

Set-up will be taking place at the Main Access off Pettibone on Friday so the Beach, Lake Chester Boat Access, and main parking lots will be closed.

On Saturday the whole park will be closed to normal activities, however spectators and triathletes are welcome. There will be all sorts of fun things to do and see at the main access. Many roads around the park will be closed for course safety.

Parking will be off 57th Street on the South side of the park at CHS and access to the parking will be through Fruitland on 57th to the parking area. Shuttle service will be in place for Saturday.

We have Monarch Caterpillars to giveaway. Must have fresh milkweed and replace frequently until they make their chrysalis. First come, first serve, no holds. The Environmental Learning Center is open until 4:30 today!
