🎉 October Student of the Month – Soraya Mastin! 🎉

Congratulations to Soraya Mastin, our MSCA Student of the Month for October!

Soraya has been a dedicated member of our Automotive program since the 2025–26 school year and has quickly distinguished herself as a leader in the classroom and lab. She regularly takes initiative by helping organize and oversee lab activities and setting a positive example for her classmates.

Soraya is also an active SkillsUSA member and will serve as an officer this year. Her involvement extends well beyond the classroom, as she has volunteered with our 2nd and 8th grade tours, Trunk or Treat, and other MSCA activities. She also plans to lead a community service project this school year.

We are proud of Soraya’s willingness to serve. Congratulations, Soraya, on being named our October Student of the Month!

We recently purchased a new custom windscreen featuring the Muscle Shoals Career Academy name and logos, and our Welding students got some real-world experience this afternoon learning how to install it!

We love opportunities where our students can put their skills to work right here on our own campus.

A big thank you to the Windscreen Factory for working with us and helping us add a great new look to MSCA! We appreciate your business and support of our school and students.

🎉 September Student of the Month – Jay Wilson! 🎉

Congratulations to Jay Wilson, our MSCA Student of the Month for September! Jay is a senior in our Computer Science/Cybersecurity pathway and was nominated by his instructor, Mrs. Tiffany Stonecipher.

Jay has taken every Computer Science course offered at MSHS and has excelled throughout the pathway. He is a member of the 30+ Club at MSHS and currently serves as President of MSHS SkillsUSA. Earlier this year, Jay organized a SkillsUSA recruitment event that brought in 45 potential new members!

Jay has competed through SkillsUSA for the past three years, including earning 2nd Place at State in Community Service in 2025 with his team. Next month, he plans to compete in the Cyber Cup Challenge, and next semester he will be part of our new AP Cybersecurity course.

Outside of the classroom, Jay is also a member of the MSHS Cross Country team. After graduation, he plans to attend the University of Alabama and major in Cybersecurity.

Jay is a great example of a student who has taken full advantage of the opportunities available through CTE. Congratulations, Jay, on being named our September Student of the Month!

Our Health Science interns had a unique opportunity this week to participate in a tabletop emergency response exercise coordinated by the Colbert County EMA at the Muscle Shoals Airport.

Students served as “victims” in a simulated airplane emergency, suffering from respiratory issues due to smoke in the plane cabin, giving them a firsthand look at how agencies across our area work together during a large-scale emergency. Throughout the exercise, they interacted with firefighters, law enforcement, EMTs, TSA personnel, hospital officials, nurses, doctors, and other emergency response professionals.

As part of the simulation, our students were transported to North Alabama Medical Center, where hospital staff practiced responding to a sudden surge of patients following a major emergency.

What a great experience for our Health Science interns to see emergency response and healthcare professionals working together in a real-world setting. A big thank you to Colbert County EMA and all of the agencies and professionals who made this opportunity possible for our students!
