What a wonderful turnout for NACOLG’s Annual Fish Fry & Board Meeting!

We were proud to welcome board members, local leaders, community partners, staff, and friends from throughout our region for an evening of great food, fellowship, and meaningful conversation.

The evening included remarks from our keynote speaker, Congressman Robert Aderholt, along with the opportunity to recognize and thank the many individuals and organizations who continue to support NACOLG and the communities we serve.

From sharing a meal to catching up with colleagues and friends, the annual Fish Fry is always a special opportunity to bring our region together. We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this year’s event such a success!

A special thank you to our generous sponsors for their continued support, and to the NACOLG staff for all of the time and effort that went into making the evening such a great one. We appreciate each of you!

As temperatures rise, it’s important for older adults to take extra precautions to stay safe and cool. Extreme heat can be especially dangerous for seniors, so knowing how to prevent heat related illness and recognizing the warning signs is important.

Stay hydrated
Spend time in air conditioned spaces
Avoid direct sun and the hottest parts of the day.
Wear loose, lightweight clothing

Know the signs of heat illness: dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, heavy sweating, confusion, or fainting.

If you or someone you know begins experiencing signs of heat illness, move to a cool place, begin cooling down, and seek medical attention when needed.

Take a few minutes to review these tips and share them with a senior, friend, or loved one. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe this summer!
