Last Friday, students from Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change participated in the Grand Trunk Annual Cleanup alongside the Muskegon Conservation District, Watch Us Go Boating, the City of Muskegon, and Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership

The site has been restored over time, and with less garbage being found, students are now able to take part in additional environmental learning opportunities during the cleanup.

Last week, students from Central Elementary and Reeths-Puffer Intermediate schools helped plant over 200 plants at the Muskegon Lake Nature Preserve micro forest.

Students planted ground cover species to help establish a dense, biodiverse mini forest that will benefit the community for years to come.

This project was funded through a grant from the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, along with support from many local partners working to enhance green infrastructure and improve quality of life in our community!

Staff at WMSRDC recently visited the White Lake Community Library to install 4 non-motorized counters along the White Lake Pathway. These counters will help gauge pedestrian traffic in different areas of the pathway and provide valuable data for future planning efforts.

The counters do not take pictures or record personal information โ€” they simply track movement by motion. Staff regularly monitor the counters to ensure they are working properly and collecting accurate data.
