The Muskegon Heights Early Childhood Center had a great day at John Ball Zoo this week. Despite some rain drops, students and their families had fun exploring and checking out all the zoo has to offer. Thanks to the preschool center staff and MAISD staff who made this day possible.

🎂 Happy 61st Birthday, Head Start!

Sixty-one years ago, a bold idea took root: every child — no matter their zip code or family income — deserves a strong start in life. What began as an 8-week summer program in 1965 has since served more than 38 million children and counting.

Today, Head Start programs across all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories continue that promise every single day — offering early education, health screenings, nutritious meals, and deep family support.

This Sunday, May 17, there will be a free children’s life jacket giveaway in memory of Max. The event is at Pomona Park in Fruitport. Over 500 life jackets will be given away.

With permission and in loving memory of one of our students, Max, Fruitport Community Schools is honored to help share and support this meaningful community event. 💙

To honor Max’s birthday and legacy, a FREE Life Jacket Giveaway Event will be held for families in our community with the goal of helping keep children safe in and around the water.

Families will have access to:
- Free children’s life jackets
- Water safety resources and education
- Support and information from local community organizations, including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the Coast Guard, the Red Cross, and Gift of Life

This event is a beautiful way for our community to come together, remember Max, and help protect other children through awareness and water safety education.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with families who may benefit. 💙
