Our office will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth and will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation reached the last enslaved African Americans in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The day is recognized nationally as a time to reflect on freedom, history, and the ongoing pursuit of opportunity for all.

🏖️ Beach water monitoring begins this week at public beaches in Muskegon County! Throughout the summer, water samples will be tested for E. coli bacteria with the help of GVSU Annis Water Resources Institute.

Monitoring helps identify when bacteria levels may be elevated and could pose a risk to swimmers. If E. coli levels are too high, we recommend that the beach owner post a swimming advisory or close the beach until conditions improve.

We provide FREE screenings for children:
• Preschool (ages 3–5)
• Children entering kindergarten
• School-age children
Screenings include:
• Hearing: Grades K, 2, and 4
• Vision: Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 (or with driver’s training)
