20-YEAR HAZARDOUS-DUTY RETIREMENT
MCEMS medics hired after November 1, 2024, are enrolled in a 20-year hazardous-duty OPERS retirement!

Employees participate in OPERS, a state-defined benefit pension, providing an important retirement benefit as you build your EMS career.

CHOOSE YOUR SCHEDULE
12-Hour Rotation

4 shifts one week — not consecutive

3 shifts the following week

3-day weekend every other weekend

Starting pay of $65,000–$74,000/year

$28.35–$32.29/hr, depending on applicable experience

24-Hour Rotation

24 hours on / 48 hours off

$88,000–$93,000/year

$26.50–$27.83/hr, depending on applicable experience

Today, Muskogee County EMS recognizes and honors Native American Day and the rich history, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American communities.

We are proud to serve a community with deep Native American roots and a heritage that continues to shape our region. Today is an opportunity to recognize the generations who have helped build and strengthen our communities while celebrating the traditions and cultures that remain an important part of our shared community.

MCEMS Employee Spotlight: Meet Justin!

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Justin, an EMT who has been part of the MCEMS family for almost 3 years!

When asked what advice he would give someone interested in getting into EMS, Justin didn’t hesitate:

Take care of yourself! Eat healthy, work out, practice good health, and don’t forget to take mental health days. According to Justin, taking care of yourself is important to avoid burnout and stay ready to take care of others.

When Justin isn’t on duty, you’ll probably find him doing what he loves most — hunting!

He’s also a fan of checking out BBQ and taco restaurants , and when it comes to travel, Justin has some big adventures in mind. He’d love to visit Greece or Ireland and dive into the sea, and one day he hopes to hunt in Africa.

Of course, every EMS provider has their must-haves for a shift, and Justin’s list is pretty straightforward:

We asked Justin what keeps him coming back to MCEMS, and his answer was simple:

“The people.”

And when we asked the big question — “What do you want to be when you grow up?” — Justin already knows the answer:

“A Paramedic.”

Muskogee County EMS — A service like no other.

WE SHOW UP. WE STAND TOGETHER. WE REMEMBER. 🇺🇸

Today, September 18, the members of MCEMS had the honor of standing alongside our community at Fort Gibson National Cemetery to pay our respects to Vietnam Veteran Bart Robinson.

A life of service should never be forgotten, and no veteran should feel as though they are standing alone—especially in their final farewell.

Today wasn't simply about attending a funeral. It was about showing up for one of our own. It was about reminding one another that service matters, sacrifice matters, and the people who answered the call to serve our country will always have a place in the hearts of the communities they protected.

To the veterans who came.
To the first responders who stood beside them.
To every community member who took the time to be there.

Thank you.

You reminded us of something powerful: when our community is called upon, we answer.

Bart Robinson may have been laid to rest today, but he did not go unnoticed, and he did not go forgotten.

MCEMS is proud to serve a community that understands the meaning of service.

Rest in peace, Mr. Robinson. Thank you for your service.

MCEMS is honored to stand with our community and our veterans.

We will be there Friday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery to pay our respects to Vietnam Veteran Bart Robinson and to honor his service and sacrifice to our country.

No veteran should have to make their final journey without someone there to remember and honor them. We encourage our fellow veterans, first responders, and members of our community to come stand together and show that his service was not forgotten.

Rest easy, Mr. Robinson.

We have a Vietnam Veteran, Bart Robinson, being laid to rest with only his brother in attendance from overseas.

Friday September 18, 2026 at 11:00 at Fort Gibson National cemetery in Oklahoma.

No living family stateside to attend and we haven't been able to track down any friends in the Tulsa area that would be able to attend.
