🎙️ Our youth asked the questions many people in Muskogee have been asking.
YVC Muskogee youth sat down with City Manager Kendal Francis to discuss the nearly 20-year-old condemnation lawsuits, the $29.25 million in judgments, the possible impact on taxpayers, and what happens next.
Our youth researched the cases and developed their own questions. Their goal was not to place blame, but to help our community better understand this complicated issue.
As promised, we are sharing the full interview without editing the questions or answers.
Comments are turned off because this is a youth-led platform, and we will not allow our young people to be targeted or pulled into online arguments for simply asking questions.
We are incredibly proud of them for being informed, respectful, and unafraid to ask the hard questions.

✨ Could We Be More? ✨

Friday evening, our youth had the opportunity to attend “Could We Be More?” at the Martin Luther King Community Center—and they walked away with a whole lot to think about.

D’india Brown brought together an incredible panel of community leaders who shared their own journeys—the successes, the challenges, the different paths they took, and the lessons they learned along the way. Conversations covered careers, education, entrepreneurship, leadership, community involvement, supporting one another, and what it really takes to turn an idea or a goal into something more.

But what we loved most was watching our youth listen, take notes, ask questions, and start thinking about what comes next. They left with things they want to research further, ideas they want to explore for themselves, and information they want to bring back and share with other youth.

That is what meaningful youth programming looks like. ❤️

We are especially grateful for D’india Brown, who continues to be such a positive light and mentor for young people in our community. She genuinely wants to see youth succeed, and the time, heart, and hard work she put into creating this opportunity showed throughout the evening.

Thank you to D’india Brown and every community leader who gave their time, shared their story, and reminded our young people that there isn’t just one road to success—and that their own journey is worth investing in.

Maybe the real question isn’t simply “Could we be more?”

It’s “What could we become when a community believes in its young people?” ❤️

🐾❤️ Happy National Dog Day to our very own Elliott! ❤️🐾

Some dogs have owners. Elliott has an entire YVC family.

He has spent countless hours at the Teen Center, tagged along on service projects, comforted kids who needed a little extra love, listened to more teenage conversations than he will ever be allowed to repeat, and happily accepted approximately 47 million pets, hugs and belly rubs along the way.

But the best thing about Elliott is how much he genuinely loves his kids. ❤️

He doesn’t care what kind of day they’re having, what happened at school, whether they’re stressed, tired, excited or just need somebody to sit beside them for a minute. Elliott’s answer is always the same:

I’m here. You can pet me. We’ll figure the rest out. 🐾

He may not officially be on the YVC Muskogee payroll — although he would happily accept payment in treats — but there is no doubt he’s part of our team.

Our therapy dog.
Our unofficial staff member.
Our professional hug giver.
Our keeper of secrets.
And most importantly, their Elliott. ❤️

Happy National Dog Day to one very special boy who has absolutely no idea just how much he means to all of us.

YVC Muskogee wouldn’t be quite the same without you, Elliott. 🐾❤️

Issayiah – World Changer Award (1,000+ Service Hours)
Issayiah has reached an incredible milestone by completing more than 1,000 hours of service, earning recognition as a YVC World Changer. He has made Project Transformation a priority every summer, returning year after year to serve, mentor, and build relationships with younger children. His service extends well beyond Project Transformation, though—Issayiah consistently steps up for projects throughout the year and has shown what long-term commitment to community service looks like.
