CASA for Children, Inc. Community volunteers advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children

CASA volunteers are responsible for gathering information that will enable the court to understand the situation of the child. They become the eyes and ears of the court; making independent, objective recommendations in the child's best interest.

Thank you, Georgia-Pacific, for welcoming CASA and Lake Area United Way again this week to share how your generosity makes a difference for children in our community! 💙

CASA volunteer Joel Holston joined us to share his experience advocating for children in foster care and the difference a caring, consistent adult can make.

GP’s strong workplace giving campaign means so much to United Way funded partners like CASA. The funding we receive helps tremendously, supporting our volunteers and making it possible for us to reach more children who need an advocate.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our cherished CASA volunteer, Debra "Deb" Duncan, on October 4th.

Deb joined CASA in 2016. Over the years, she served 34 cases and advocated for 71 children. Even while facing health challenges of her own, Deb continued to show up for children—and had recently accepted a new case. She was also a trusted source of guidance, encouragement, and support for fellow volunteers.

Behind Deb’s years of service was a family who supported her as she gave her time and heart to children who needed her. We are holding them close in our thoughts and prayers, and hope they feel how deeply Deb mattered to all of us.

A celebration of life will be held for Deb on Friday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Community Gospel Center, 1686 US-62, Fort Gibson, OK 74434. In Deb’s honor, her family asks those attending who are able to wear purple.

We will always remember Deb for the way she kept showing up for children and for the kindness and encouragement she shared with fellow volunteers. Deb’s care and commitment will live on in the many lives she touched. 💜
