TSUNAMI WATCH (yellow on map) in effect for U.S. West Coast. The magnitude of today's earthquake in Kamchatka has been revised to 8.7, and the larger magnitude means it displaced more seafloor and has the potential to create a potentially damaging tsunami. Here is the most recent information from the National Tsunami Warning Center. The first waves won't arrive on the Northern California Coast until a little before midnight. A WATCH means there is still time to make a determination of the potential hazard and decide whether a warning or advisory should be issued.
