Last night at 9:23 pm Myers Flat Fire responded to a mutual aid call for elderly man who suffered a fall with severe head injury. While Fruitland Ridge Fire Activities and CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit City Ambulance of Eureka assisted the patient , Myers Flat coordinated and established a landing zone for the REACH air ambulance helicopter to land at the south end of Myers Flat . Together, we were able to transfer the patient to the helicopter and safely get him out and to an emergency trauma center out of the area. This kind of smooth coordination between multiple agencies is what makes the difference in complex scenarios. This is what we train for everyday. We want to thank our partner agencies for their constant support and professionalism that makes our job so effective. Southern Humboldt County is such a magical place filled with incredible people. We are truly humbled and honored everyday to be blessed with the opportunity to work with such a community. We, along with our brothers and sisters of hard working, dedicated folks in our fire service family will always continue to train, prepare, and be ready to serve this amazing place we call home. It costs over $5000 to outfit one single firefighter in good, turnout gear, boots, gloves,helmet, wildland gear, lights, and training. Training makes the difference! As fire season gets closer, we work hard with weekly trainings, and extensive online classes to be prepared and ready for the call! ●MYERS FLAT FIRE IS PROUD TO REPRESENT IN SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT! We are excited to be sending 6 firefighters this year to the 2026 Southern Humboldt Wildfire Academy, and 2 of our experienced firefighters will be joining over 200 firefighters from all over our reigon for the annual wildfire RT-130 recertification on June 7th

At 12:53 this afternoon, Myers Flat Fire Rescue 6976 responded to a call of an unresponsive female with cpr in progress. Along with members of CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit , together we successfully resuscitated her and brought her back. It's incredible moments like this, that teamwork and dedication, training, and more training, together with our mutual aid departments that make the job of a first responder really shine. We want to thank all the incredible folks who help us reach our goals everyday We wish her and her family a swift and blessed recovery!
Our department works everyday on the thinnest of budget. We have to be masters at splitting pennies in thirds to continue to grow and equip, and train our team of dedicated firefighters. We want to thank everyone who continues to donate to our department, and supports our fundraisers. It takes 12 burgers to sell at our barbecues to pay for new defibrillator pads.
